Temporary Assistant Applicants: 98 Percent Clean

Despite the contention of many that a large portion of people who seek assistance are illegal drug uses, a Florida Department of Children and Families Services appears to have proven just the opposite. A scant 2 per cent of 1,000 applicants for temporary cash assistance were, upon testing, found positive for narcotics. This evidence is the result of a newly passed law aimed at those who are seeking help from the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families program (TANF). The law, which went into effect the first day of July has, as of mid August, only turned up 20 people who could not pass the required drug test. More info: positive news
